When I was little I wasn't allowed to play outside when it was sunny. The air was too dry and caused problems with my trach. My mom moved us to Seattle for medical care and the rainy weather was incredible for me. I was able to play outside when it rained and because of this I still have a love for the rain.
I live in the Sahara. Ok, not really, however, my airway sure feels like it. There is an inversion and it's cold, biting cold, and the humidity in my house is under 15%. With four humidifiers running. The heater and fireplace are wiping out my moisture. It makes my airway, sinuses and lungs ache. Filling the bathroom with steam, boiling extra water, every trick in the book only provides temporary relief.
I hate the limitations the dryness places on me and today is one of those days I can't even do the stairs in my own house. I had to tell E I couldn't do a treasure hunt with her because she hid her treasure upstairs. I hate this part of it. I know it's temporary, and could be worse, but I still hate it.
I need moisture. I miss the ocean.
